Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

1/2 cup sliced almonds
1 2/3 cup flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 Tbs. pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
2 eggs beaten
1 cup pumpkin (half of a 1 lb. can)
1/2 cup butter-melted
1 cup chocolate chips

Spread almonds on a baking sheet – bake for 5 minutes at 350 degrees – then cool.
In large bowl, combine: flour, sugar, pie spice, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
In separate bowl combine: eggs, pumpkin and butter – whisk until blended.  Stir in chocolate chips and almonds.  Pour over dry ingredients and fold with spatula until moistened.  Spoon into greased muffin tins and bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.  Yield: 14 muffins
